Bio

Monica and I started Faithful Henry in 2006 after our first band, Fall In March, broke up. In the Fall in March days, Monica played viola and piano (though never at the same time, no matter how much I asked) and I (hi, I’m Vlad!) played guitar and sang. We had a grand old time playing shows around California for a few years in support of our 5 song EP, Fall Down. But all good things come to an end.

After Fall in March broke up and an appropriate time of grieving had passed, Monica and I decided to start a new band that would combine acoustic instruments and all our folk/gypsy influences with synthesizers. Lots and lots of synthesizers. Thus, Faithful Henry was born.

Our first album, a 7 song EP that never really had a title beyond “Vlad and Monica’s Wedding CD”, ended up being the party favor at our wedding. Then our oldest daughter was born, and Faithful Henry went to sleep.

Though we didn’t release any songs for a while, we weren’t idle. Between 2009 and 2016 we did music for ad campaigns for companies like Reebok, 711, Samsung, and others. I wrote the themes for a couple of British TV series “Funniest Fails Falls and Flops” and “Now That’s Funny!” We made a lot of songs without titles.

In 2012 Monica and I released an album that ended up being the soundtrack for the web series Leap Year (USA Network). Never Met, a song that recently appeared in Binge, was one of the songs on that album. More nameless scoring work ensued.

In 2016 I worked on the score for the Maker Studios/Disney series Dan is Dead. I also wrote most of the songs on the soundtrack — some performed by Monica and I, and some by other artists. Only one of those songs sounds like Fall In March and none of them sound anything like Faithful Henry. Nonetheless, this was an inspiring and altogether wonderful learning experience. The series is yet to be released, but when it is, the soundtrack will be as well.

In 2017 we released a new single, “We’re Okay,” which was featured in the web series Binge (now at over a million views on YouTube!). This reminded me that I really missed making music for the joy of it.

Now, over ten years later, Monica and I have decided to come back to what inspired us in the first place: acoustic instruments, gypsies and synthesizers. Lots and lots of synthesizers. Our new EP, Liar, is going to be officially released end of summer 2018.
